Brann make drastic moves ahead of Europa League clash
Brann have urgently recalled Lars Remmem from his loan at Haugesund ahead of Thursday's Europa League match against PAOK in Thessaloniki. The 20-year-old midfielder was about to play golf when he received the call to travel to Bergen. Brann are currently 6th in Eliteserien with 25 points after 17 games (8 wins, 1 draw, 8 losses) and have won three of their last five matches (WWLWW).
Why was Remmem recalled?
Remmem has been a key player for Haugesund this season with four goals and four assists. Brann's sporting director Per-Ove Ludvigsen explains that the decision was made due to a depleted squad. Niklas Castro and Kristall Mani Ingason are suspended with bans, several players are injured, and Noah Holm is staying in Bergen as he awaits the birth of his child.
What does Remmem say about his return?
– I got the news while I was out playing golf in Haugesund. So it was just a matter of jumping in the car and getting to Bergen before we travel tomorrow, says Remmem. He is looking forward to being back in the Brann jersey and is eager to contribute in the Europa League match.
What's next for Brann?
Brann will host Lillestrøm on September 5th in the next Eliteserien round. Lillestrøm are 5th in the table, and Brann will hope to continue their good form. With Remmem back in the squad, Brann can strengthen their midfield in the fight to climb the Eliteserien table.
