Brann has sacked coach Freyr Alexandersson after a poor season start. The club is now looking for a new coach before the next league match in mid-July. Alexandersson was not present at the press conference where chairman Arild Mjøs Andersen announced the decision. Brann has had major injury problems this season and is in 11th place in the Eliteserien. TV 2 expert Jesper Mathisen thinks it's a surprising decision. Brann lost the cup final in May and is 14 points behind league leader Viking. Alexandersson has been coach of Brann since January 2025. Bergensavisen expert Jonas Grønner believes that it's not just about the results, but also about internal conflicts. Grønner thinks that Alexandersson has made some statements that have shifted the responsibility away and distanced himself from signings. Brann has made a tough decision and hopes to have a new coach in place before the next league match. Erik Huseklepp, former Brann star, is surprised by the decision. Huseklepp thinks it's a bit surprising, but that the results have been a bit varied. Jonas Grønner believes that Eirik Horneland could be a possible successor as coach for Brann. Horneland was previously coach of Brann and had great success with among other things cup gold in 2023. And now the club is looking for a new coach to take over. Brann's assistant coach Jonathan Hartmann is also leaving the club. The club will hold a press conference at 14:00 to discuss the situation further.
