Brann advance to third qualifying round with 3-1 win over Cluj
Brann secured a spot in the third qualifying round of the Conference League with a 3-1 home win against Universitatea Cluj. Niklas Castro scored twice for Brann, while Ulrik Mathisen also found the net. Jovo Lukić scored for Cluj, but it wasn't enough to keep them in the tournament.
How did the match unfold?
Brann started strongly and took a 1-0 lead after eight minutes when Niklas Castro scored from a great pass by Denzel De Roeve. Lukić equalized at 1-1 in the 26th minute, but Brann regained control and eventually won 3-1. Castro scored his second goal in the 75th minute, while Mathisen secured the win in the first half.
What does this mean for Brann?
Brann, currently in 8th place in the Eliteserien with 19 points after 15 matches, now have another opportunity to showcase themselves on the European stage. With 30 goals scored and 25 conceded, they have a positive goal difference of +5. They are 16 points behind league leaders Bodø/Glimt, but still have a good chance to qualify for the next round.

Brann will host Lillestrøm on September 5th. Lillestrøm are currently in 4th place in the Eliteserien, and this will be an important match for Brann to show they are in form. Brann will be without Jonas Torsvik and Sakarias Opsahl due to injuries.
