Brann player Sævar Atli Magnússon sustained an injury during the match against Tromsø on August 17 last year. This was documented with an image from the fixture.
The injury has resulted in Magnússon now being listed on an updated injury report alongside three teammates. Brann's official injuries page shows that Eggert Aron Guðmundsson, Jonas Torsvik, and Sakarias Opsahl are also currently sidelined. This comes at a significant point in the season.
Being without four key players presents a challenge for manager Eirik Horneland. The team currently sits in fifth place in the Eliteserien with 26 points. They have eight wins, two draws, and eight losses from 18 league matches. Their most recent outing was a 0-0 away draw against Sandefjord on August 30.
With 36 goals scored and 27 conceded, Brann holds a positive goal difference of nine. They are, however, a substantial 21 points behind league leaders Bodø/Glimt, making each victory vital to keep pace at the top. The team's recent form shows a draw in their latest match, leaving them unbeaten in the last one.
The match that led to Magnússon's injury was played at Alfheim Stadium in Tromsø. The image from the match was captured by photographer Marius Simensen. The image, with the identifier MT1SIPA000BKLBB5, is licensed with restrictions prohibiting use in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Austria.
While the specifics of the injury incident are not detailed in the reporting, the image documentation shows that it was a regular league fixture in the 2025 Eliteserien. Such events highlight the physical demands of top-flight football.
Without Magnússon and the other injured players, the team must find solutions. The next opportunity comes in an away fixture against Start on September 13. Start occupies 16th place in the table, making this an important match for Brann's points tally. Fans can view the complete fixtures schedule to see what lies ahead.
To remain competitive, Brann must field a strong side. They have shown they can score goals but need to be defensively solid as well. A victory against Start will be important to build on the current form. The team's position in the standings will become clearer after this matchday.
