Sportsklubben Brann opened the new EGD stand for the first time on Saturday, September 5th. The new section provides 450 new standing places and completes Brann Stadion as a unified football stadium.
The stand was used in the match against Lillestrøm. The club currently sits in 5th place in the Eliteserien with 26 points from 18 games. They have scored 36 goals and conceded 27 this season. Brann's last result was a 0-0 away draw against Sandefjord on August 30th.
The EGD stand features a concrete foundation, wave breakers, its own entrance, and new kiosks and toilets. The standing places are unnumbered. On the first floor, the club has received upgraded academy facilities and a new 320-square-meter strength room. This room will be shared between Brann, NTG, the Vestland Sports Medicine Center, and Olympiatoppen.
The second floor houses Olympiatoppen, the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and VIMS. NTG has taken over the third floor, while Sporty is setting up a training center across the entire top floor. Interior work will not be fully completed until December, and it is uncertain if the new LED screen will be operational for the premiere.
EGD Property AS chose to undertake and finance the construction project, which carries a price tag of around 130 million Norwegian kroner. The agreement was finalized with the club during the summer of 2025 and unanimously approved at an extraordinary general meeting. Brann owns the stand structure and the facility itself, while EGD leases out the commercial areas.
Tor Fredrik Müller, CEO of EGD Property AS, stated: "The stand is a gift to Brann, to the world's best supporters, and to the club we love so much." The club held close dialogue with supporter groups regarding the design throughout the winter and spring.
The project gives Brann Stadion a total capacity of around 18,000 spectators. The new stand is located between the Frydenbø stand and the Sparebanken Norge stand. Christian Kalvenes, the daily leader of Brann, said: "This was the final piece of the puzzle. Brann Stadion is now a holistic football stadium."
Back in December of last year, just days after Brann hosted Fenerbahçe at the stadium, Kalvenes symbolically started the demolition of the old northwestern corner using an excavator. The club's current squad is missing several players, including Eggert Aron Guðmundsson, Jonas Torsvik, Sakarias Opsahl, and Sævar Atli Magnússon.
Brann trails league leaders Bodø/Glimt by 21 points. The team is unbeaten in their last match and has a recent form of DWWLW. Their next challenge is an away fixture against Start, who are 16th in the table, on September 13th. Brann's position in the standings provides a solid foundation for the final part of the season.
