David Møller Wolfe is following his old club Brann closely. The Norwegian national team player has settled well in Greensboro, North Carolina, where the Norwegian national team has its base during the World Cup. Now the focus is on the American championship for the gentle Bergen player, who together with the Norwegian national team performed their first training session on the football field at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro on Thursday evening Norwegian time. But although the focus is on the World Cup, Wolfe has not been able to avoid the drama in his old club Brann in the past week. On Monday, coach Freyr Alexandersson was fired in the Bergen club, and the Wolverhampton back did not hide that he was taken aback. - I was very surprised like many others, says Wolfe to Nettavisen. - Last season was very good. This year it has not started as the Bergen fans and Brann themselves had hoped and expected. So they had a very good cup final. Had they won it, things would have been completely different now. So it says a bit about how brutal top football can be, and how important it is to have margins, tells Wolfe. Brann entered the World Cup break on a very disappointing 11th place after a loss to Sarpsborg 08 last Friday. Despite the league position, Wolfe had not seen Alexandersson losing his job. - It came as a small bomb for most, says the 24-year-old. He believes, however, that the timing may have been right if Brann had done something first. - The timing can be good, to do it right before a long summer break and all that. - Now I have not been in the locker room and do not know how things have been there, but for us on the outside it came as a big surprise that the club made the decision so quickly, says Wolfe. The Bergen player takes time for a small chat with Nettavisen before it gets out into the 30-degree heat and sun in Greensboro. The Norwegian team arrived in the US on Wednesday night Norwegian time, and the left-back reveals that they have settled well. - It's completely wonderful to be here. A fantastic hotel. I have stoked myself with the day we got, and so I'm looking forward very much to going out on the training field here and getting my legs going, says Wolfe. Nettavisen and other Norwegian press in Greensboro observed Norway's training session from the tribune under the scorching sun. The session was ended with sunbathing and light ball play among the Norwegian players, before it returned to the hotel. Norway meets Morocco in a training match next Sunday in New Jersey.
