SK Brann have secured the signing of midfielder Stella Nyamekye from NJ/NY Gotham FC in the USA. The transfer was announced by both clubs on Tuesday, with an undisclosed fee and pending clearance of her International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
What happened?
Stella Nyamekye, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Fort Lauderdale United in the USL Super League, has now joined Brann. She made 14 appearances, scoring one goal and providing two assists. Previously, she played for Ghanaian side Dreamz Ladies FC.
Yael Averbuch West, Gotham FC’s general manager, stated the club is proud of Nyamekye’s progress and looks forward to following her success at Brann.
Why does this matter for Brann?
Brann, currently 9th in the Eliteserien with 19 points (6 wins, 1 draw, 8 losses) from 15 games, need reinforcements to climb the table. The team has scored 30 goals and conceded 25, with a +5 goal difference, sitting 19 points behind league leaders Bodø/Glimt.
What comes next?
Nyamekye awaits ITC clearance before she can make her Brann debut. The team’s next fixture is at home against Lillestrøm on September 5, facing a side currently 4th in the table.
