SK Brann face IK Start away in an important Eliteserien match on Sunday, September 13. The game will be played at Sør Arena.
Brann enter the fixture following a defeat to Lillestrøm (1-2) last weekend. The Bergen-based club currently sits in 7th place in the Eliteserien with 26 points from 19 games, claiming a goal difference of +8 (37 scored, 29 conceded). They are, however, a significant 21 points behind league leaders Bodø/Glimt. The recent form has been mixed, with a record of L-L-D-W-W-L over the last six matches.
After two consecutive losses, there is pressure to reverse the trend against a Start side sitting at the bottom of the table. Manager Eirik Horneland must cope with the absence of several key players. Jonas Torsvik, Sakarias Opsahl, and Neraysho Kasanwirjo are all listed as injured on the club's injuries page. This affects possible lineups and rotation ahead of the long trip south.
Brann's attack has been productive with 37 goals scored, but defensive solidity has been lacking at times. With 29 goals conceded, the team holds a mid-table ranking in defensive terms. A win against Start is vital to stay in contention for positions in the upper half.
For hosts IK Start, in 16th place, this represents a chance to secure important points in their relegation battle. They are likely to adopt a defensive approach and look to exploit any uncertainties in Brann's back line. For Brann, it's about dominating possession and creating clear chances early to avoid a nervy affair.
This away fixture begins a decisive phase of the season for Brann. With the table tightly packed from the middle upwards, every single point could be decisive for the final standings. The team's objective must be to stabilize results and build on the positive goal difference. Fans can check the complete fixtures list to plan for the coming weeks.
Back in Bergen, the players will immediately prepare for the next challenge after the trip to Kristiansand. The next Eliteserien round is played the weekend after. Brann's next match is away against IK Start, Sunday, September 13, 2026.
