A Brann supporter has been banned from the stadium for 15 matches after throwing objects at Apollon Limassol's goalkeeper during the Conference League qualifier on 5 August. The incident also led to the club being fined 10,500 euros, approximately 115,000 Norwegian kroner, by UEFA.
Brann's sanctions committee made the decision following a thorough review of surveillance footage from the match at Brann Stadion. Among the objects thrown were small glass bottles, and Apollon Limassol goalkeeper Philipp Kühn reacted strongly after being hit.
- Throwing objects onto the pitch is strictly forbidden, said Christian Kalvenes, the daily leader of Brann. This concerns player safety. It is incredibly important that the players feel safe on the pitch.
The UEFA fine is a consequence of the security breach during the European fixture. The matter arises as Brann, sitting 7th in the Eliteserien with 29 points, prepare for a key home match against league leaders Viking on 9 October. The squad's composition and available players can be checked on our squad page. The ban is effective immediately.
